Value | The Scholarship will have a value equivalent to 20% of the tuition fee for the recipient’s first year of study and will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition fees for their chosen programme/s of study once their enrolment is completed. Any refund of fees will be payable after the withdrawal date for the relevant semester. |
Length | The tenure is one academic year and the scholarship is valid only within the year for which it is awarded. Successful recipients may defer from A semester to B semester in the year offered but only after consultation and agreement with the International Office. |

About the scholarship
The University of Waikato International Alumni Masters Scholarship (China) was established to support and encourage talented alumni students domiciled in China to apply to study at Masters level at the University of Waikato.
Entry requirements
To be eligible, candidates: a) Must be an alumnus of the University of Waikato, having studied on a University of Waikato degree level programme for at least one full academic year b) Must have achieved a bachelors degree of a minimum of B- or equivalent c) Must be applying to study on a postgraduate diploma or master’s level programme of one academic year or more d) Must be domiciled in China at the time of their application to the University of Waikato e) Must be paying international fees and not be classified as a domestic student or permanent resident f) Must be in the year of tenure, commencing a full-time programme/s of study with a total duration of no less than 12 months at the University of Waikato g) Must be residing in New Zealand for the tenure of the scholarship University of Waikato International Alumni Masters Scholarship (China) h) Must not be coming to the University of Waikato via a sponsoring body1; and i) Must not be coming to the University of Waikato on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement2, or through a study abroad or student exchange agreement.
