About the scholarship
This scholarship supports school leavers from the Canterbury region in their first year of undergraduate study in any discipline at the University of Canterbury. The Royal New Zealand Navy established this scholarship in 2005 on the occasion of the decommissioning of the frigate HMNZS Canterbury. Up to two scholarships are available annually.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be citizens of New Zealand or holders of New Zealand residence class visas. They must be completing a university entrance qualification in the Canterbury region in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior to the year of application). The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment at the University in a recipient's first year of study in a programme for an undergraduate degree.
