About the scholarship
This scholarship supports students studying for an agriculture or a food and fibre-related undergraduate programme. The contributor, known as Longfield South, studied at Lincoln College in 1979 and gained a Diploma of Agriculture. With more than 45 years of farming experience in Mid-Canterbury, initially in mixed arable cropping and later in dairy and dairy support, Longfield South is proud to support the next generation of agricultural professionals. The Scholarship is intended to encourage students from the Canterbury region to continue their tertiary study and help develop the next generation of leaders in agricultural or the food and fibre sector.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be full-time students registered in their second or third year study in agriculture or a food and fibre-related undergraduate programme. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents. Selection criteria include: Academic Merit; Applicants must be able to demonstrate a preference for a career in agriculture or in the food and fibre sector; Students with barriers to university study are encouraged to apply, eg, (but not limited to) financial, first generation at university, minority groups, dependants; Preference given to students with a connection to the Canterbury district (but not limited to).
