About the scholarship

This scholarship is for candidates who are committed to advancing the benefits of technology through undergraduate or postgraduate research. It was established through a bequest to Massey University by Ken Powell, who had his own precision equipment business, and his wife Elizabeth Powell, a registered nurse and midwife. Their bequest aims to give people enthusiastic about technology an extra edge. Recipients will undertake research relating to the advancement of technology in the year of award.

Entry requirements

You must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who is undertaking research relating to the advancement of technology. Include the following with your application:

  • your CV
  • an outline of your research and how it relates or related to the advancement of technology. Include any evidence of your commitment to advancing the benefits of technology
  • a supporting statement indicating your good citizenship and leadership or community involvement
  • a reference letter from an academic member of staff who can comment on your academic abilities, with particular reference to your technology project
  • a reference letter from a referee who can attest to your leadership/community involvement
  • your academic transcripts for any tertiary study completed outside of Massey University.
