About the scholarship

The Hinemoa Hilliard Memorial Scholarship has been established by Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts in conjunction with Hinemoa's whanau, to remember, recognise and celebrate her influence as an inspirational teacher and writer, and to support strong writing about Māori art and design. This scholarship is for a second-year Māori student enrolled in a programme of study within the College of Creative Arts.

Entry requirements

You must:

  • be Māori
  • be enrolled in a programme offered by the College of Creative Arts
  • have completed courses as outlined in this award's regulations
  • be a domestic student
  • be entering the second year of your qualification.

Include the following with your application:

  • a brief statement of your whakapapa or your relationship to whakapapa (up to 250 words)
  • a brief statement of your engagement with kaupapa Māori and manaakitanga (up to 250 words)
  • one graded written assignment of your choice from a first year Contextual Studies course (Communication for Makers 237.130 or Conversations in Creative Cultures 237.131) or Ngā Hanga Whakairo (150.106). This must include the grade received and the mark schedule/marker's feedback.
