About the scholarship
The John Bassett Hunter Research Scholarship was established in 2019 through a bequest from Mr Hunter who died in December 2018. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage postgraduate research in any discipline of the biological sciences. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. This scholarship provides $35,000 per annum, covering tuition fees for 3 years and remaining funds paid as a monthly stipend.
Entry requirements
Candidates must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, (full time) in a PhD in the School of Biological Sciences at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington during the tenure of the scholarship. Candidates must be conducting research in any of the biological sciences which has the potential to benefit the health of New Zealand's people and environment. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only.
