About the scholarship
The Eastern Bay Education Scholarship was established in 2025 by Victoria University alumnus Michael Lamont, in partnership with the Eastern Bay Community Foundation. It aims to support young people from the Eastern Bay of Plenty region in pursuing their academic goals. The scholarship focuses on empowering students who demonstrate determination, perseverance, and commitment to achieving their goals while facing financial barriers, enabling them to attend university or continue their undergraduate studies.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be originally from the Eastern Bay of Plenty. They must be either intending or already undertaking full-time undergraduate studies in any faculty at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents, or New Zealand Residence Class visa holders. A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4:30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered. Required documentation includes a statement regarding financial hardship and a personal statement (approx. 500 words) describing how the applicant has demonstrated an attitude of determination, perseverance, and/or a commitment to achieving their goals, including their connection to the Eastern Bay of Plenty region.
