About the scholarship
This Scholarship is available for all subject areas. It is for new full-time undergraduate students who have attended a R. Tucker Thompson Youth Voyage in the last five years and are intending to enrol for the first time in 2026. The R. Tucker Thompson Sail Training Trust was established in 2006 to protect the future of the iconic vessel and to benefit the people of Te Taitokerau Northland. The award was created in 2024 to recognize the commitment of the Trust and the University of Waikato to advance educational opportunities for people from Northland.
Entry requirements
For students who have attended a R. Tucker Thompson Youth Voyage in the last five years who are intending to enrol full-time (120 points) in an undergraduate degree at the University of Waikato for the first time in 2026. Preference may be given to applicants studying topics relevant to the marine environment and/or marine industry.
