About the scholarship
This is a scholarship designed for qualified or unqualified early childhood teachers or staff members eager to complete our New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika).
The Oceania scholarship is awarded based on merit, commitment to Pacific children, their families and early childhood education.
The scholarship covers the course fees for qualified or unqualified early childhood teachers or staff members who:
- Currently work or volunteer in an early childhood centre with a significant proportion of Pacific learners.
- Shows a strong, ongoing commitment to their work with young Pacific learners and a career in early childhood education.
- Want to apply their learnings to add value to their Early Childhood Education centre and the lives of early Pacific learners.
Awardees are expected to:
- Show outstanding commitment to their study
- Contribute to their ECE centres
- Act as an ambassador for Te Rito Maioha.
After graduation, scholarship recipients are expected to continue to make a positive contribution to the education sector and their community.

To be considered, the following must be received by the closing date:
- A completed online scholarship application form.
- All supporting documents including personal statement and references.
- Completed online application to study the NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika)
Entry requirements
Applicants must:
- Intend to begin their studies in 2025.
- Apply to study the NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika).
- meet the admission criteria for the programme.
- Be a New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Resident.
- Applicants must be new students.
- Be working or volunteering in an early childhood centres with Pacific children.
