About the scholarship

Academic tuition fee reductions are available to students of outstanding sport or cultural ability, supported by sound academic progress. These scholarships are offered to incoming students in Years 11, 12 and 13.

Academic tuition fee reductions are available to students of outstanding ability in cultural or sporting areas, and supported by favourable academic progress and achievement, who are not already attending St Andrew’s College.

All scholarships represent a subsidy on tuition fees. The amount of fee reduction will depend on the all-round or specific qualities of the applicant and will be in the form of an offer made, in writing, by the Head of the Secondary School. There is no charge for applying for a sporting/cultural scholarship, but there is an acceptance fee if an offer of enrolment is made, which is applicable to all students entering the Secondary School, including scholarship winners.

The successful candidates for cultural scholarships in Music will be expected to take Music as a subject as part of their academic programme in Years 12 and 13.

Targeted sports

Winter: rugby, netball, basketball, hockey, football
Summer: cricket, tennis

Entry requirements

There are two components to the application submission process:

  1. The Application Form (found on this page below)
  2. The Video Submission

The Video Submission requires candidates to submit two videos.

The first video should be no longer than two minutes and should highlight what it is about a St Andrew's College that candidates feel will help them to succeed.

The second video is the candidates' chance to showcase their sports or cultural activity. For sport this should be no longer than two minutes and for cultural this should be no longer than five minutes.

All shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview. The date and time of the interview will be advised by the Registrar. A staff member of the College may also watch the applicant’s performance in their field of excellence, i.e. strongest sport/cultural discipline.

A questionnaire will be sent to shortlisted applicants to be completed before their interview and to be discussed at the interview.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
