About the scholarship
The Nora Bateson Scholarship was established through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation as a result of a bequest in his will made by Mr Archie Dunningham, former City Librarian at Dunedin Public Library, for a scholarship to be named in honour of Miss Nora Bateson. The scholarship is intended to encourage beginning practitioners to include some form of overseas study or experience of professional practice in their programme rather than to support work for a research degree.
Entry requirements
This scholarship is offered to students who are currently enrolled in the Master of Information Studies (MIS), Postgraduate Certificate in Information Studies and/or Postgraduate Diploma in Information Studies at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington. Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to study at an overseas university/organisation. If in any year, there are no suitable applicants, the selection panel will consider applicants who intend to undertake a term of study, or an internship in New Zealand. Preference may be given to those without work experience in the GLAMR (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums & Records) sector.
