About the scholarship
The scholarship is awarded annually to a New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) violin, viola and violoncello student enrolling in their first year of study with NZSM. The scholarship aims to support students in their first year of university. This scholarship was established through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation from a generous bequest made by Barbara Finlayson. The first awards were made at the end of 1997 to postgraduate students.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be violin, viola or violoncello students, intending to enrol at NZSM in the year following their application. The scholarship is available to both domestic and international students. Selection is based on academic achievement and demonstrated musical ability.
