About the scholarship

This scholarship is for Māori who wish to carry out doctoral research that will contribute to rangatahi suicide prevention and/or postvention programmes for Māori who have been bereaved by suicide. This scholarship is funded by the Health Research Council and is part of a three year research programme to increase our understanding of the factors that contribute to enhanced suicide prevention programmes for Māori.

Entry requirements

This scholarship will support a research student to undertake doctoral studies at Te Herenga Waka in the Faculty of Health. Supervision will be provided by members of the research team. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: Ability to contribute to the building of suicide research capacity; Evidence of community engagement; Commitment to making a difference for Māori health and wellness; Commitment to te reo Māori and te ao Māori; Academic merit.
