About the scholarship

The Vernon Clark Memorial Scholarship was established to support 2nd year students & above towards a Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) or other undergraduate degree with a focus on Animal Science.

Vernon (‘Vern’) Raymond Clark ONZM (1923-2022) was an animal scientist on the staff of Lincoln University who started as a Technical Assistant in 1940 and retired as a Senior Lecturer in 1981. He was co-developer of the Coopworth breed of sheep and made an Officer of New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2005 for services to agriculture and the community.

This Scholarship stands in memory of Vernon Clark and his teaching and research services to Lincoln University; his lifetime of work for the township of Lincoln; and his deep associations with animal husbandry and animal production in New Zealand and internationally.
