About the scholarship
The Peter Turner Scholarship was established in memory of the late Peter Turner; esteemed author, editor, publisher, curator, and former teacher at the Wellington School of Design. While in New Zealand he contributed to public knowledge and understanding of the medium of photography through writing, teaching, public lectures, and curated exhibitions. This annual scholarship honours and remembers his special regard for those photographic practices he termed lyric, personal, or poetic documentary. This is a postgraduate scholarship for someone entering their second year of the Master of Design, Master of Fine Arts, or the Master of Māori Visual Arts with a focus on contemporary photography. You will preferably have a creative lens-based practice underpinned by social, cultural, political, or community concerns.
Entry requirements
You must be a New Zealand or Australian permanent resident or citizen, studying full-time, and enrolled in a specific programme.
