About the scholarship
For New Zealand Master's or Doctoral research students studying at any tertiary institution in New Zealand. The scholarship aims to support research in Japanese studies, preferably a topic related to Japanese language or its teaching. The Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education was established in March 1995 by an endowment from the Nippon Foundation to Massey University. It is funded from the interest earned on an endowment bestowed on Massey University by the Nippon Foundation Fund for Japanese Language Education Programme (NF-JLEP). The purpose of the fund is to foster Japanese language in New Zealand through the training of Japanese language teachers and the provision of fellowships to students pursuing Japanese related studies.
