About the scholarship

Background The Men's Health Trust collaborates with Unitec to attract and support men into healthcare professions. One way of doing this is to support them in their training at Unitec with a targeted scholarship scheme for males studying in health-related programmes. Since 2013 the Trust has been the major funding contributor towards the Men's Health Scholarship, which sees up to 10 students receive between $2,500 and $5,000. The aim of the Men's Health Trust is to inspire men to make positive and rewarding lifestyle choices by providing education programmes, research and information that encourage and promote good health. The aim of the scholarship is to support men in their studies towards careers in health. Please read the Men's Health Trust Scholarship Regulations for full details. Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria: Male New Zealand citizen or holder of a New Zealand Permanent Resident visa Be currently enrolled or submitted an application to Unitec to be admitted full-time into one of the following Unitec programmes: Bachelor of Nursing Diploma in Enrolled Nursing Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) Master of Osteopathy Bachelor of Health Science (Medical Imaging) Bachelor of Health and Social Development Bachelor of Social Practice Bachelor of Sport (Coaching) Diploma of Sport and Fitness Education For current Unitec students: achieved a grade point average of 3.5 (B-) or above for previous semester's study. For new Unitec students: must meet the entry criteria for the selected programme of study. All candidates must apply using the Unitec online Scholarships Application form to be eligible. Preference will be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria: Maori Pacific First in family to pursue tertiary education Financial Need Recipient Selection Criteria As demonstrated in the Scholarship application: Motivation to succeed in their chosen course Motivation and desire to become a leader within their industry or community Commitment to support Men's Health Trust work within their local communities through a project of their choice Financial need Application Details Scholarship applications for 2019 have now closed.
