About the scholarship

The Rocket Lab Scholarship covers up to $20,000 in tertiary fees for one outstanding student to pursue a degree or course in STEM education. The recipient is also paired with a Rocket Lab mentor, giving them a rare opportunity for one-on-one experience with a world leading space and engineering expert.

The Rocket Lab Scholarship is open to applicants across the country to encourage and support the next generation of science and engineering innovators. However, applicants who can demonstrate a strong connection to Mahia and the wider Wairoa District in Hawke’s Bay – where Rocket Lab’s New Zealand launch site, Launch Complex 1, is located – are prioritized and strongly encouraged to apply.

How To Apply

Download the Rocket Lab Scholarship application form from the Rocket Lab website. Submit your application to [email protected]. Applications are open until 5pm NZT, Friday, 16 October.

Once applications close: A Selection Committee within Rocket Lab assesses all applications and select a shortlist of applicants to proceed to the interview stage, from which the winning applicant will be selected.

The Scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria: a. Demonstration of passion for science, technology or engineering b. Involvement in cultural, community or leadership activities c.Evidence of the applicant’s connection to the Mahia and wider Wairoa District

Entry requirements

The Rocket Lab Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who: a. Is a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident; and b.Is scheduled to begin tertiary study towards a degree in science, engineering or technology the following year;

Applicants who can demonstrate a strong connection to Mahia and the wider Wairoa District in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, are prioritized and strongly encouraged to apply.
