About the scholarship
Hauora Maori Scholarships provide financial assistance to students who are undertaking or completing a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) accredited course (level seven or above at graduation), or health care worker training (level three or above at a recognised tertiary provider) in health and disability studies.
The purpose of the scholarship programme is to achieve greater participation by Maori in the health and disability workforce and to help ensure the delivery of quality health services for Maori.
This scholarship is distributed by the Ministry of Health.

What you receive
The Scholarship has a value of up to $4,200 and will be paid as a lump sum.
Entry requirements
The scholarships are open to any person who:
a) is enrolled and attending a University, Polytechnic, Wananga, or Private Training Establishment based in New Zealand, and b) has whakapapa and/or cultural links with te ao Maori or Maori communities, and c) can demonstrate a commitment to and/or competence in Maori health and well-being studies, and d) is studying a health and/or disability-related NZQA accredited course that will equip for the Maori health and disability workforce.
The scholarships are not available to:
a) Ministry of Health employees b) District health board employees.
