About the scholarship
AWLA has awarded the Margaret Wilson Scholarship since November 2000. Margaret Wilson used to hold the position of Attorney General, and the scholarship was founded and her name given to commemorate her appointment. The $3,000 Margaret Wilson Scholarship aims to support a female LLB, LLB (Hons), LLM or PhD student in law at the Auckland University of Technology or the University of Auckland who encompasses the objectives of the AWLA. The successful applicant will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability, financial hardship, the nature of the applicant's intended study and/or research, the applicant’s current and future contribution to the New Zealand community, and the applicant’s involvement in and promotion of legal issues affecting women.

Entry requirements
The Scholarship may be awarded to any woman scholar who is studying towards an LLB,LLB (Hons),LLM or PhD in Law at the University of Auckland or AUT. In selecting the successful applicant, the Selection Committee will take into consideration (inter alia) scholastic ability, financial hardship, the nature of the applicant's intended study and/or research, the applicant's current and future contribution to the New Zealand community, and the applicant's involvement in and promotion of legal issues affecting women.
