About the scholarship
The Confucius Institute in Auckland, in cooperation with the China Scholarship Council of China's Ministry of Education, facilitate the selection of up to ten scholarships. For Chinese language study in China each year.
How To Apply
Applicants must be currently studying at a New Zealand tertiary institution in the final year of a bachelor degree or have completed a degree within the past five years at a New Zealand tertiary institution. Applicants need to demonstrate academic excellence in their field of study. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens. Short listed applicants will need to provide evidence that they have no medical problems which could impact on their year of study in China. Final placement in a Chinese university will be decided by the China Scholarship Council. The China Scholarship Council does not accept applications from those aged above 45 years.
Entry requirements
The Confucius Institute in Auckland will award the scholarships and their selection criteria includes: Academic excellence in Chinese language (preferably) and/or other China related subjects. Strength of references. Evidence of applicant's commitment to achieving a high level of proficiency in Chinese language. The degree to which Chinese language skills are part of the applicant's future work or study plans. Evidence of applicant's ability to adapt to living and studying in another culture. Involvement in community and extracurricular activities.
