About the scholarship
The William Lomis Cox Memorial Scholarship supports Whakatane area students who wish to train as teachers, with emphasis on social science subjects.
History
First awarded in 1958, the William Lomis Cox Scholarship was established by Norman Cox in the name of his late father. Mr Cox wanted to support Whakatane area students training to be teachers. He hoped they would return to Whakatane to share their knowledge and skills with the new generation of school students.
