About the scholarship
This is a UCOL Student Scholarship to rec-ognise and acknowledge Paul McElroy’s 20 years of service as Chief Executive. The Scholarship will be awarded to students who are pursuing a career in the discipline of Trades*, and are facing financial hardship and/or exceptional challenging circumstances. The aim of the Scholarship is to give financial assistance to a UCOL student which will be used as a contribution towards their UCOL course costs. The Scholarship will be awarded annually from 2015 and will have a life of four years.

Entry requirements
• The Scholarship will be awarded to up to two students who are currently undertaking study in a UCOL Trades* Programme and are facing financial hardship and/or exceptional challenging circumstances. • Applicants must be enrolled in and demonstrating good attendance in a UCOL Trades programme (at any UCOL site), with preference given to applicants in full time UCOL study. • Open to all students studying in a UCOL Trades Programme however if two Scholarships are made, one awardee should self-identify as M ori on their UCOL enrolment details, and one awardee will not self-identify as M ori • The applicant must be demonstrating good progress in their programme of study. The Scholarship awarded will be used as a contribution towards courses costs. The Scholarship may be made to one student, or divided in any way determined by the Selection Committee. In making the Scholarship the Selection Committee will consider the circumstances of each applicant. The Committee will not comprise of any person who has nominated an applicant
