About the scholarship

The Graduate Women Manawatu Charitable Trust Inc., associated with the Graduate Women New Zealand - Manawatu (Inc) branch, operates Academic Dress Hire in the Manawatu area. The profits from this business are disbursed to support the education of women. An award is offered annually to one or more women students enrolled at UCOL, who have excelled in terms of effort and achievement.

Entry requirements

  1. The Award is open to a female student who is enrolled in a full time degree course, of at least three years duration, at any UCOL Campus. The degree must be on the New Zealand Register of Quality Assured Qualifications.
  2. The recipient should be in either the third or fourth year of a degree course.
  3. The recipient must be a New Zealand citizen and/ or permanent resident and have resided in New Zealand for at least the previous two years.
  4. The recipient will have shown a good level of academic achievement during her degree course to date and evidence of effort and progress rather than simply an “A” record is preferred.
  5. The recipient’s personal history, financial needs, academic record particularly in terms of effort and achievement, and plans will be taken into account.
  6. The Trust reserves the right not to make an award in any particular academic year and explanatory reasons may not be given.
  7. The Award is to be used for course fees or courserelated costs e.g. textbooks, computer items, stationery, student union fees, travel required for the course.
  8. Recipients who hold other grants or awards may be awarded a sum up to the value stipulated by the regulations (if any) relating to those grants or awards.
  9. The Trust would welcome a brief report from recipients following their final year of study.
