About the scholarship
The St Stephen's and Queen Victoria Schools Trust was established by the Anglican Church in 1961. The Trust’s purpose is: "The advancement and propagation of education for children in New Zealand, principally for girls and boys of New Zealand Maori descent but including peoples of all races and denominations.".
How To Apply
Complete and submit the application form (by email) by the application deadline. You must also submit all required support documents (by email) by the application deadline. These include: ? Proof of name, date of birth and New Zealand citizenship/residency: a certified copy of your New Zealand birth certificate or a scan of the photo page of your New Zealand passport. If you have a foreign passport, a scan of the New Zealand residency visa and a scan of the photo page of your passport; ? Proof of enrolment/acceptance into your designated school for next year; ? Proof of current educational background: latest school report and/or NCEA results; ? A summary on a separate page on why you would like to attend your chosen school, your leadership roles/qualities and future aspirations. ? A letter of support from your current school (written by a teacher, dean or principal) commenting on your educational/academic success, other interests, and personal attributes (including leadership qualities/potential); ? A letter of support from a community leader or kaumatua commenting on your whanau, connections to iwi/hapu and community, how the funding will assist you to attend the school, and your personal attributes; ? If applicable: A letter from your local Anglican parish or a certified copy of your baptism or confirmation certificate.
Certified copies are photocopies that have been stamped on the front page of all documents and endorsed as a true copy of the original. Any of the following people can certify photocopies: ? School principals ? District court registrar or Deputy registrar ? Barrister or solicitor ? Justice of the Peace (you can find a list of local JPs in the Yellow Pages)
Entry requirements
To be eligible, you must: ? be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident; and ? plan to undertake secondary school education (Year 9, Year 10, Year 11, Year 12, or Year 13) at a New Zealand school in 2017; and ? demonstrate financial need.
Applicants will need to demonstrate: ? financial need; ? leadership qualities/potential; and ? a satisfactory educational background.
