About the scholarship

Our Pacific PhD scholarships provide three years of personal support for outstanding graduates undertaking a PhD in any discipline related to improving the health of Pacific peoples.

How To Apply

Firstly, you'll need to register your intention to submit an application for this scholarship. Registration must be completed online via HRC Gateway. Following registration, you'll need to submit a full application online via HRC Gateway using the 2019 Pacific health CDA masters and PhD application form below and then send a hardcopy of this application to the HRC.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for one of these scholarships, you'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand, and be of indigenous Pacific descent (you can find our description of Pacific peoples on page 3 of the 2019 Pacific CDA application guidelines below). Usually, applicants will be enrolled full-time for a degree at the doctoral level, often a doctorate of philosophy at a New Zealand university. However, we will consider applications from applicants enrolled in other doctoral degrees or who are enrolled part-time. If you haven't yet enrolled for your proposed course of study, but are intending to do so, you can still apply - in this case, any scholarship you may receive will be conditional on your successful enrolment.
