About the scholarship
We are offering these scholarships on behalf of the Ministry of Health. Masters or postdoctoral scholarships are available to support the career development of emerging health researchers seeking to prevent and minimise gambling-related harm for Pacific populations in New Zealand.
One masters scholarship is available for a term of one year full-time, or a maximum of two years' part-time. This includes a stipend of $10,000 and payment of course fees up to $10,000 and working expenses of $1,600.
One postdoctoral fellowship is also available for a term of four years. This includes a stipend and payment of working expenses valued at up to $410,000.
How To Apply
Firstly, you'll need to register your intention to submit an application for one of these scholarships. Registration must be completed online via HRC Gateway. Following registration, you'll need to submit a full application online via HRC Gateway using the 2019 Pacific CDA application form below and then send a hardcopy of this application to the HRC.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for this masters scholarship, you'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand, and be of indigenous Pacific descent (you can find our description of Pacific peoples on page 3 of the 2019 Pacific CDA application guidelines below). Usually, successful applicants will be enrolled full-time for a master’s degree. However, we will consider applications from applicants enrolled part-time. If you haven't yet enrolled for your proposed course of study, but you intend to do so, you can still apply - in this case, any scholarship you may receive will be conditional on your successful enrolment.
