About the scholarship

An anonymous donation was made to the Foundation to recognise the contribution of Sir Harcourt Caughey to the Auckland Medical Research Foundation, first as a member of the Board of the Foundation, 1959-1978, and later as President, 1978-1984.

The Sir Harcourt Caughey Award is made as funds permit and on a case-by-case basis.

How To Apply

Applications may be made by individuals or organisations. The former should complete Section A, the latter Section B. Both must complete all remaining sections.

The completed application with electronic signatures and supporting documentation should be converted to PDF from word, saved as one file with the file name ‘Caughey Award_year_full name’ and then submitted through the Host Institution research office according to their procedures.

Entry requirements

Applicants must:

• be a graduate of New Zealand who, having trained in research overseas, is returning to New Zealand to a part-time appointment in Auckland and who has sufficient experience in research to deserve part-time support (or similar to a part-time Senior Research Fellowship) in such research; or

• be a New Zealand medical graduate in auckland who is deserving of assistance to train in a specific field overseas and to undertake research in that area, especially visit Auckland, normally for 3-4 weeks, to foster interest & research in that speciality.
