About the scholarship

As an IIE Generation Study Abroad initiative international university partner, Victoria supports aims to increase the number of American students engaging in meaningful international experiences.

Victoria will offer up to four $500 (NZD) scholarships per year. Applicants must be willing to act as ‘brand ambassadors’ for Victoria and assist with promoting Victoria to the American market while they are studying.

How To Apply

Please complete an application and return to the Victoria Scholarships Office. Your application should include: • An Offer of Place from Victoria University of Wellington, or evidence of a current application to Victoria • A motivational statement about why you want to come to Victoria and future goals • Information to demonstrate your eligibility as a student from an underrepresented group within study abroad • Letter of recommendation from a Professor (or Assistant Professor) at your US home institution • Curriculum Vitae (resume) • Copy of the photo ID page of your passport (to be supplied prior to any receipt of a Scholarship if you are currently applying for a US passport)

Entry requirements

Applicants must: • hold a minimum GPA of 2.7 (out of 4), • be eligible to apply for, or hold, a US passport, • be able to demonstrate that they come from an underrepresented group within study abroad*, • have applied to study abroad at Victoria University of Wellington as an international student.

IIE and Diversity Abroad offer suggestions on which groups this may include, but all students who feel they are eligible are encouraged to apply.

The University suggests that groups may include, but is not limited to, students of indigenous and minority backgrounds, low income and first generation tertiary students, mature students, LGBTQIA students, and students with disabilities.

This scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, stipends and grants with the exception of the Victoria IIE High Achiever Scholarship.
