About the scholarship
These scholarships are targeted to deserving New Zealand School of Music students who are in financial need. Successful applicants will be second and third year students in an undergraduate degree or any year of a post graduate degree offered by the New Zealand School of Music who have demonstrated a commitment and contribution to music within and beyond the University community. The FCT was founded in 1987 by Peter and Rae Fehl with the principal objectives being the promotion of the arts, the relief of poverty, advancement of education and other charitable purposes that are beneficial to the community. These scholarships were established by the Fehl Charitable Trust through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation to support deserving New Zealand School of Music undergraduate students who are facing financial hardship.
How To Apply
A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
Applications will normally open one month prior to the closing date.

Entry requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree or any year of a post graduate degree at the New Zealand School of Music.
- be experiencing financial hardship.
- be eligible for domestic fees status (i.e., be a NZ Citizen, NZ Permanent Resident, NZ Resident Class Visa holder, or Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident domiciled in NZ).
The scholarship is open to music students who have demonstrated a commitment and contribution to music within and beyond the university community. Recipients are selected on the basis of financial need, application and aptitude for studying music. Previous applicants may apply in subsequent years, including applicants who have previously been successful.
