About the course

Promote wellbeing and harm reduction to individuals, whānau and communities. Gain the skills and knowledge the industry is looking for and become a culturally-competent counselling and addiction practitioner. The programme uses blended learning with online and onsite block courses. Practise scenarios in the classroom. Complete work placements to gain experience.

Students will need

  • Access to a personal computer with internet access.
  • Some work placements will require students to complete health screening prior to attending. The costs of screening and any follow-up x-rays or immunisations are the responsibility of the student.
  • When enrolled in CA6205 Developing Professional Practice and CA7300 Enhancing Professional Practice, students need to complete 12 hours of clinical supervision and 5 hours of cultural supervision. The costs of these are the responsibility of the student.

Entry criteria

University Entrance or equivalent study/work experience; and evidence of suitability based on an interview, health declaration, safety check and referee reports.
