The LCQ course is a valuable qualification for anyone working within licensed premises. This gives students a critical understanding of the law and host responsibility.

What you will learn

  • Knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
  • Knowledge of Host Responsibility requirements as a Duty Manager of licensed premises

Qualification details

The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 requires all licensed premises to have a certified manager on duty at all times alcohol is available to be sold or supplied to the public.

Before applying for a Manager's Certificate, you are required to obtain the LCQ certificate.

On completion of this course and you will receive the formal LCQ certificate from ServiceIQ and have the Unit Standards registered on your Record of Achievement with NZQA.

Course structure

There is one day of learning in class, and an optional supported learning day on campus. After your training, the LCQ assessment will be completed online when you are ready.

Entry criteria

You must be 18 years of age, with the ability to complete the requirements of this course without an interpreter. A good level of English is required as you need to complete a written exam.
