Elevate your business career and broaden your business knowledge by understanding the theories, practices and principles while gaining role-specific skills in a chosen strand. This industry-relevant programme will develop your work-ready skills, teaching you to think conceptually and adapt to change. Before focusing on one of the three strands below, you will cover four core modules that apply to various operational business contexts.Core modules cover the principles and practices of marketing, accounting, operations, human resources, and risk management, including internal and external environments, to inform decision-making. Learn to apply knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi to strengthen bicultural partnerships and relationships, as well as ethical practices in accordance with environmental, social and cultural contexts. You will also build your relationship and communication skills to apply innovative approaches to contribute to business performance and objectives.AccountingAccountancy skills are in constant demand for the ability to plan and record financial performance. With this focus, you will investigate business software options, learn risk management, accounting principles and practices, and explore ethics, legislation and sustainable management strategies for financial efficiency. Gain the expertise to analyse and interpret financial information to inform decision-making across any entity. This strand equips graduates to work towards the academic requirements for CAANZ’s Accounting Technicians College.Leadership and managementExpert leaders ensure targets align with strategic objectives and drive productivity and high performance. Organisations need highly capable and competent leadership to execute projects and manage scope, resources, and time efficiently. With this focus, you will develop skills to lead team motivation, engagement and workplace culture to positively impact business outcomes. Administration and technologyDiscover how to plan, organise, and manage business functions, operations and projects to support higher management. You will be exposed to a range of current and emerging business technologies and learn how to analyse and evaluate systems and processes to recommend improvements. This focus will give you the skills to problem-solve, communicate effectively, and apply critical thinking. This strand equips graduates to work towards certification by the Association of Administrative Professionals New Zealand (AAPNZ).Completion of this programme provides a stepping stone into the second year of our Bachelor of Applied Management or Bachelor of Accounting with the accounting strand.
