About the course
Free programme to eligible applicants (New Zealand Permanent Residents and Citizens).
TEC’s Intensive Literacy and Numeracy (ILN) Fund supports the intensive provision of high quality, fees-free literacy and numeracy learning opportunities for learners with low-level literacy and numeracy skills. For further information, see TEC’s website.
The programme is aimed at:
New Zealand Permanent Residents and Citizens; Learners with literacy and numeracy needs; Learners wanting to up-skill to join the workforce.
Entry requirements
An eligible learner who: is a domestic student; and, has low skill levels in literacy, numeracy, or literacy and numeracy, as determined by us; has fewer than 80 credits on the NZQF; or has more than 80 credits on the NZQF but fewer than 12 credits in literacy and/or numeracy in unit standards and/or achievement standards; or when assessed using the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool presents at Step 1 or 2 on the Learning Progressions for reading and/or numeracy. We usually conduct a placement test during the enrolment process.

About the provider
EMS is a Category 2 NZQA-registered and accredited provider based in Wellington, New Zealand. EMS also has a campus in San Francisco (family-owned), and therefore offers students the opportunity to study both in New Zealand and the United States.
We are based in the Wellington CBD at 76-86 Manners Street (04-801-9180).
EMS offers a range of sub-degree business programmes (New Zealand Certificate in Business - Level 4; New Zealand Diploma in Business - Levels 5 and 6), and also various NZ-government funded programmes for permanent residents and citizens (Intensive Literacy and Numeracy, Employment Placement Service).
We are hoping to offer a Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management (Level 7) for the July 2018 intake, and are also hoping to a limited number of free places as well. Please see our website for further details.
