About the course

Graduates of this programme will be able to: - Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicle electrical systems including wiring, charging, lighting, and starting systems - Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicle driveline systems including transmission systems both manual and automatic, clutch and differential systems - Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicle chassis systems including steering, suspension and braking systems both hydraulic and pneumatic. - Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicle fuel and exhaust systems including fuel injection pumps and exhaust systems. - Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicle auxiliary automotive items including. Lubrication, hydraulics, air-conditioning, cooling and measuring equipment - Demonstrate knowledge of business responsibilities, including quality control general legislation and regulations in the motor industry. - Provide the vehicle for students to gain the relevant trade and personal skills to work and make a valued contribution within the Heavy Automotive Industry with staircasing opportunities to the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive Heavy Engineering) (Level 4) with strands in Road Transport, Plant and Equipment and Agriculture and Equipment and Material Handling Equipment. - Demonstrate and apply health and safety practices as it relates to the automotive workshop or industry - Seek an apprenticeship or trainee position in the heavy automotive industry
