About the course
The primary aim of the BASW is to develop skilled, informed social workers at a beginning level of professional practice competency who:<br />*meet the academic requirements for registration<br />*are critically reflective and research informed<br />*are committed to practice in the Aotearoa New Zealand context <br />*understand and work with diversity <br />*can integrate theory and practice<br />*are creative problem-solvers<br />*practice ethically and are accountable<br />*advocate for social justice and<br />*value education as a lifelong process.
Applicants must be over 20 years of age at the commence of the programme. Some special consideration of entry prior to the age of 20 may be considered by the programme committee. Applicants are required to have 42 credits at NCEA level 3 or equivalent. 14 credits must be in approved subjects at NCEA level 3 and a further 24 credits taken from no more than two additional domains or approved subjects.
