About the course
Graduates will have the knowledge, practical skills and ethical and professional values necessary to work in a variety of animal related occupations relating to the clinical care of animals, animal welfare investigations, canine behaviour and training or captive wild animals. The qualification includes four endorsements: Animal Clinical Care, Animal Welfare Investigations, Canine Behaviour and Training, or Captive Wild Animals.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be aged at least 16 years on or before the first day of commencement of the programme and must have completed 24 credits at level 1 NCEA in two subjects, including 12 credits in science subjects, or have passed in two subjects in the New Zealand School Certificate, or have completed the Unitec Certificate in Foundation Studies (level 3), or have completed a minimum of three years? secondary education, or equivalent. All applicants are required to have achieved a minimum standard of English as follows: at least 8 NCEA credits in English at Level 1 (4 in reading, 4 in writing), or an overall IELTS band score (Academic Format) of no less than 5.5; or one of the following Unitec qualifications: Certificate in Employment Skills English (Office, Computing, Healthcare), Certificate in Intensive English (Upper Intermediate), or Certificate in English (Upper Intermediate) or equivalent.
