Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting
NZQF Level 7

About the course

The Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting (GDPA) is a qualification specifically designed for those working towards membership of one of the accounting professional bodies: Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CA ANZ); or CPA Australia.

We outline the requirements of the professional bodies here (see the ‘Download info’ button), for more detailed information see the relevant bodies’ websites where you will see EIT is specifically identified as a training provider.

The GDPA is structured to provide maximum opportunity for you to meet the academic requirements of the professional bodies.  Graduate diplomas consist of eight courses; both professional bodies require further courses which most students provide via their first degree.  For this reason the best route into GDPA is a degree in accounting.  For further details see the ‘Download info’ button.

Upon application we can also advise on the likelihood of further courses being required to fully meet chartered accountant requirements.

Please feel free to make an appointment to discuss your study options. You can meet with our staff in person at our Hawke’s Bay campus, or simply give us call on 0800 22 55 348. And you’re most welcome to visit EIT to view our facilities at any time.

This qualification will lead to many employment opportunities in professional practice, industry and the public sector. Once awarded this graduate diploma you’ll:

  • Have met the academic requirements for provisional membership of CA ANZ (CA College) or CPA Australia;
  • Be prepared to start your practical experience and CA ANZ CA or CPA’s equivalent programme.
  • Have met the requirements to become an Associate Member (ASA) of CPA Australia*

* CPA Australia would conduct an assessment to ensure correct papers have been studied.
