About the course

This programme will provide students with the knowledge and skills to support individuals and groups who have experienced trauma.
At the completion of the programme students will be able to:
work safely in the field of trauma;
communicate effectively with individuals and groups experiencing trauma;
demonstrate effective case management practices;
demonstrate the role of professional reflection in the context of trauma management.
Successful graduates will have the skills to:
Work in a safe way with trauma clients;
Communicate with trauma clients;
Assess the trauma client in the context of the immediate traumatic environment;
Take appropriate action to support the trauma client;
Access service and provider agencies that may support the trauma client;
Work within legal and ethical boundaries;
Document appropriate records of incidents;
Undertake self care strategies;
Be culturally aware;
Facilitate debriefing sessions;
Develop and implement crisis management plans;
Be a reflective practitioner.
