About the course
This certificate offers the best route to completing your carpentry apprenticeship. With on-the-job training and night classes, you'll earn while you learn and graduate with the skills, experience, and qualification employers value.
Programme Outline
During this programme you’ll be visited at your worksites by EIT tutors who’ll work with you to plan and evaluate your progress. You’ll undertake practical courses onsite, and theory will be taught and assessed during night classes. Advantages for you include:

Entry requirements
Entry Requirements
Firstly you need to be employed full time by a builder and have been offered an apprenticeship. Once you have met this condition the ways we can sign you up are:
- Direct from school with a minimum of 3 years attendance and NCEA Level 1 English and Maths.
- Direct from the workforce with the recommendation of the builder who is to be your employer.
- You may have completed a Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship course.
- You could have previously completed unit standards towards the NZ Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) with another provider.
*This course is not available to international students.
