About the course
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the maritime industry with personnel who have advanced maritime electro technical skills to electro-technical officer standard under the Maritime New Zealand Seafarer Certification and Operational Limits Framework.
The qualification is intended for new entrants to the industry or electro technical ratings wishing to progress to roles as electro technical officer. It would also be suitable for shore-based electrical engineers wishing to begin a career at sea.
The corresponding Maritime New Zealand Electro-technical Officer (ETO) certificate of competency is the most senior maritime electro-technical role.
Completion of this qualification is a pre-requisite to applying for a Maritime New Zealand Electro technical Officer Certificate. Award of this certificate by Maritime New Zealand may also require the completion of: a logbook, oral exam and ancillary certificates.
