About the course

Graduates will be able to demonstrate the competencies required in order to meet the administrative, delivery and assessment standards demanded of teachers in the New Zealand tertiary education sector. Successful graduates of the Certificate in Adult Teaching (Level 5) programme will be expected to demonstrate appropriate attitudes towards, and knowledge and skills in: Effective communication, facilitation and active listening; Reflective practice; Good practice in effective learning and teaching; The partnership intent of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi in the context of learning and teaching. Graduates of this programme may be eligible to apply for entry into a variety of further tertiary education and training programmes relating to this field of study offered by a number of tertiary education providers, for example: Northland Polytechnic Diploma in Tertiary Teaching (Level 5), Bachelor of Education (Massey University).

Entry requirements

Applicants must: Hold an appropriate qualification and/or experience in an occupation or discipline area in which they currently teach, or are seeking to be appointed to teach, adult learners. Be working as adult educators in some capacity.
