About the course
Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to be able to competently work as intermediate stylist within a commercial hairdressing salon. They will be able to display skills in colour selection and application commercial finishing, i.e hair-ups and blow drying, chemical texturising and basic cutting skills. The qualification can lead to study at a higher level or directly in to the workforce as an intermediate apprentice.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age and have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to succeed in obtaining this qualification. The must have completed and gained units in a full time certificate programme or the first year of an apprenticeship.

Established in 1994, the Academy changed its name in 2011 to Harrington\Vaughan Academy of Hairdressing. From entry level training while still at school, (Gateway) through to Professional Stylist and Commercial Barbering qualifications at level 4, H\V Academy can offer you a pathway to the right career for you. The Academy is a registered and accredited Category Two Provider with NZQA and the TEC and is based in the heart of Dunedin City, New Zealand. Harrington\Vaughan is currently the only South Island PTE delivering level 3 and 4 NZ Barber Quals.
