About the course

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to: apply learner centred learning theories, principles and practices in a tertiary education context; differentiate between surface, strategic and deep learning approaches and demonstrate the ability to meet specific learning needs; integrate culture sensitive approaches into all aspects of learning and teaching practice; integrate a range of flexible learning practices and delivery modes, into a teaching context; facilitate learning opportunities based on the principles and practices of flexible curriculum design and delivery; develop strategies for negotiating curriculum according to learner needs and workplace requirements; assess learning using multiple strategies in a range of contexts and critique assessment strategies; view teaching as a scholarly activity and critique own practice in relation to current literature; draw on research findings to inform, support and advance professional practice. Graduates from this programme will be well prepared and competent to practice as tertiary educators. Entry requirements

Academic entry criteria Minimum entry requirements for students who wish to enrol in this graduate certificate are an undergraduate degree qualification or equivalent practical, professional or scholarly experience.

International students Entry criteria will comply with policy AP511 International Students: English Language Level Entry Requirements.

For New Zealand Residents whose Background in Non-English Speaking: Entry criteria will comply with policy AP512 English Language Requirements for Students from Non-English Speaking Backgrounds.

Eligibility for Selection All applicants who meet the minimum entry criteria are eligible. Applications will be processed as they are received. The professional judgements of academic staff involved will be used toi determine those applicants who meet the entry criteria. It is preferable that applicants are engaged in on-going tertairy teaching related activities or employment.
