About the course
Graduates of the Certificate in Mata +ó Ao M+óori will have developed their knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Articles of Te Tiriti. They will be able to correctly pronounce M+óori words, names and phrases using the Kai Tahu dialect, introduce themselves in Te Reo, understand the thinking behind mihimihi and pepeha and the protocols as practised by Iwi. Graduates will have participated in a W+ónaka in a Kai Tahu setting. They will have explored the social issues and the position of the Crown, Iwi partnership and will have deepened their understanding of the intent of the Articles and Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and consequently be better equipped to apply them within a workplace. They will have experienced an increased personal cultural sensitivity and an increased capacity to practice with their clients and customers in a culturally sensitive manner.
