About the course

The Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support is designed to help our learners gain the working knowledge and basic understanding of IT Systems and networking concepts. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to become an IT Support Engineer. Following this one year New Zealand diploma course you will be able to: Assemble, repair and manage network devices. Implement Cyber Security fundamentals. Assemble and troubleshoot computer hardware. Troubleshoot networks, configure routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls. Configure virtual networks with Hyper-V. Administering Databases using SQL server. Apply fundamental customer service skills. Use Ticketing systems and reporting for helpdesk support. Develop automation scripts with Windows PowerShell. Introduction to web development and to Programming Windows application using Visual Studio.

Entry requirements

There are no mandatory prerequisites for this qualification. Learners enrolling are recommended to hold one of the following qualifications, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. • NCEA Level 2 or 3 • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3) [Ref: 2592] • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4) [Ref: 2593] • New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials Qualification Reference 2596 Page 5 of 10 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2015 (Level 4) [Ref: 2594] • New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology (Level 5) [Ref: 2595] International students must have an appropriate level of English proficiency for the level at which they intend to study. Details of English language entry requirements are contained in the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013 (Appendix 2). E.g. IELTS Academic score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5; or the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4) [Ref: 1883].
