About the course
Graduates will be able to be licensed lay or ordained leaders in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia with a critical understanding of the practice of ministry and mission which is Biblically based and culturally appropriate. They will be able to preach on Biblical texts using appropriate methods of interpretation. Graduates will be able to work on their own or as part of a team with responsibility for a congregation or numbers of congregations having skills in analysis, communication and facilitation. They will be able to design and deliver liturgical services based on their knowledge and understanding of the principles of Anglican worship and liturgy. They will be equipped to offer pastoral care supported by knowledge and understanding of ethics. They will understand their context and make appropriate mission focused responses.
This qualification could lead to further study in ministry or theology with another provider subject to their selection procedures. Licensing in the Anglican Church is subject to Church processes.

About the provider
Welcome to St John’s Theological College, the residential theological college of the Anglican Church in the Province of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. The site at Meadowbank in Auckland is the base for theological education for the three Tikanga of the Province with ministry formation onsite as well as diploma level teaching in the regions across New Zealand and Polynesia. The College has partnerships with various other tertiary providers of degrees in theology.
