About the course

This certificate is designed for school leavers interested in a career in the motor industry.

The core compulsory section of the qualification covers the essential knowledge and skills required by the motor industry including work and study skills, knowledge of automotive administration, protection of vehicle electronics, knowledge of vehicle systems and components, and automotive workshop engineering skills.

The core elective section provides an opportunity for people to gain recognition for skills and knowledge in the areas of keyboarding, literacy, communication and customer service, problem solving, automotive electrical, and workshop engineering.

The elective strands cover a range of knowledge and skills particular to automotive electrical and mechanical roles and to collision repair roles in the motor industry.

This qualification prepares people for entry into further National Certificates in the motor industry. It shares some standards in common with other qualifications to provide multiple entry points for people to the industry. About the provider

For more than 30 years, Regent Training Centre has been successful in helping to create options for students and trainees through education, support and mentoring. Our strengths lie in our commitment and dedication to improving the lives of all those that we work with. The first Regent Training Centre campus was based just outside of Whangarei, in Ngararatunua. What began with a small rural school housing just 2 classrooms, has steadily grown into 6 campuses across Northland and Auckland. While each campus may look different, they are all bound by an aim to see people achieve more than what they could hope for themselves. For many of our students, through no fault of their own, traditional learning environments have not worked.
