Course details

National Certificate in Printing (Direct Mail Production) (Level 4)
NZQF Level 4

About the course

The National Certificate in Printing (Direct Mail Production) (Level 4) is designed for people who are employed in the direct mail production industry and who have successfully completed the National Certificate in Printing (Direct Mail Production) (Level 3) with strands in Inserting, Film Wrapping, Ink Jet Printing, and Laser Printing [Ref: 1128].

The Level 4 qualification builds on the skills gained at Level 3 and is designed for those working towards a role as team leader or supervisor.

The qualification is made up of three parts: a core compulsory section and two elective sections. The compulsory section includes standards that cover troubleshooting and problem solving skills in direct mail production, knowledge of business and quality-assurance principles for the print industry, and the skills required for carrying out routine and preventative maintenance in the print industry.

The first elective set requires completion of standards in at least two areas of operations for direct mail production. This could be knowledge and skills specific to operating an inserter, film wrapping equipment, ink jet printer, or laser printer.

The second elective requires 15 credits at Level 4 or above to be gained, but provides flexibility by offering a range of a field, subfields, and domains from which to achieve this requirement. Choices include standards in Business, Delivery of Adult Education and Training, Assessment of Learning, Occupational Health and Safety Practice, Interpersonal Communications, Competitive Manufacturing and Printing.
