About the course
This stand alone qualification recognises the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of a transport officer within the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
The qualification is designed to increase professionalism and qualify employees within the road transport compliance and regulatory management sector by recognising the skills required by these role holders. People who achieve this qualification will be able to carry out compliance, regulatory management, and advisory responsibilities within NZTA; know the extent of their powers and the procedures they must follow: and be able to communicate appropriately in a road transport compliance and regulatory management context.
The compulsory section covers a range of generic communication and compliance skills which are relevant across a range of compliance contexts and roles, and which are included in other compliance qualifications. It also contains standards which can help candidates progress to the National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) [Ref: 0649].
The elective section contains a range of prosecution, writing, negotiation, driver licensing, generic management, and adult education knowledge and skills that are widely applicable in the road transport industry. This section allows candidates to select the most appropriate standards for their role as a transport officer.
